Spider Thing by Genyun Spider Thing by Genyun
The Thing is one of my favorite movies, so I always wanted to see a female going through a Thing transformation. The mind always seemed to be the last thing to go when people transformed in the two films, which is a pretty frightening concept. The organism in the movies seems to have a preference to growing spider-like appendages, so for me this was a no brainer.

Edit: updated with a wider angle , better lighting and added the talons. If anyone wants the original version I can upload it to my scraps

Good job.  The Thing was a pretty cool movie.  It would be nice if Hollywood expanded the movie and made a Part Two.  Your adaptation of the character is great.

This is still cool, but you should probably clean up the tris on her left arm if it's going to be in the center of the image.

actually in the thing a female does go through the transformation but its only her lower body that chances...from the shoulders down she turns into a a giant mouth with teeth and flippers.

Yeah, I have seen it. But it wasn't as in-depth or as clear as the rest of the transformations in the film.

yeah, but i noticed most of the transformation in the prequel were mostly various version of the most guy with the mouth in his stomach. the only unique ones were the hand spiders and the backwards two headed crawler guy.

I feel there should be more slime, but I also know hard realistic slime is to render. :D

It's a very good job with the merging of the forms. The position of the legs vs. the abdomen is especially horrifying (speaking as a female, eek).

I'd love to have slime and ichor cover the new appendages, but as you said, hard to render. :(

Muahaha! Good, that's what I was going for.:D

It always seemed to me like the mind was fully transformed long before the Thing revealed it had taken over someone; the Thing just chose to stay hidden.

I think it can be taken two ways. EG the "You gotta be funkin' kidding me!" guy seemed to be unaware we was unfected, as was the guy who had the heart attack. either that or The Thing is a really good actor

I don't recall the first guy, but I was certain when I watched that movie that the heart attack was a ploy by The Thing to make people lower their guards. Mostly because whenever you see someone transform, they look like they know what they're doing: [link]

Hey, here's a question: What happened to the medic who lost his hands? After they flamed the spider head everyone just kind of forgot about him haha.
